Sweetbriar Nature Center COVID-19 policy
Sweetbriar Nature Center is enforcing mask wearing in all indoor common areas for vaccinated and unvaccinated visitors. Masks must be worn properly, ensuring that the nose and mouth are covered. Children under 2 years of age are excluded from this requirement. If you are outdoors, you’re not required to wear a mask but please be respectful of other people’s personal space.
If your child is attending our Summer Discovery Program- (as of 2/2022)
We have been working closely with local experts on our policies. We will be following the CDC, Department of Health, and NYS policies for Summer Camps, Day Cares and Children’s Programs along with the advice we’ve been given by local doctors and nurses.
All vaccinated and unvaccinated children and adults are required to wear a mask inside our center in common areas. The rooms are too small for physical distancing, so we need to enforce this rule. Outdoors, children will only be required to wear a mask when in close settings with other children. Please make sure your child has a mask and a backup mask to bring along for the day. Masks will not be worn during water activities or when children are in the water during Adventures on the Waterside weeks.
When eating lunch children will be outdoors.
All staff at Sweetbriar is vaccinated but will still be wearing masks indoors. Any councilors who are unvaccinated will be wearing masks while in close contact with children outdoors and at all times indoors.
If your child is feeling sick or has been exposed to someone who is positive with COVID-19, please do not bring them in. If your child is feeling ill during the day, they will be separated from others and we will alert you or their emergency contact ASAP.
We will alert all families in the discovery week if any child is exposed and/or contracts COVID-19.
Our goal is to have a safe, healthy and fun summer. To keep our summer programs running we need to have everyone following our policies. If the CDC, Health Department, or NYS changes their requirements during the summer, we will be adjusting ours as well.
Thank you
