Photography Club Meetings
The Sweetbriar Nature Photography club meets on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Mondays of each month at 7:30 p.m. Visitors are always welcome. Activities include guest speakers, entertaining slide shows, instructional programs, photo competitions, field trips and more. Our club is a member of the Photographic Federation of Long Island.

Sweetbriar's Seasonal Celebrations

Insects & Their Kin -- Meet some interesting insects and other bugs. Learn what makes an insect unique and the role they play in the eco-system. Visit the butterfly house and play an interactive game. Make a craft.

An Hour with the Butterflies -- Each and every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 12 – 1 pm, July 3 through September 25 (except July 4).
Walk through our beautiful butterfly house and surround yourself with over 200 butterflies, learning the various stages of the butterfly’s lifecycle from chrysalis to adult butterfly. Children’s craft provided.
$3.00/adults, $2.00/seniors/children


Camps

Summer Discovery Camps
Start planning your summer now. Sweetbriar will once a gain be holding its exciting nature summer camp. Each camp runs for one week and each child must be registered for the entire week. There are four different theme camps for 5 to 10 year olds. The summer camp themes include Science Seekers, Earth Investigators, Amazing Animals, & Animals and the Arts.

Earth Investigators 7/13-7/17 and 8/10-8/14
Adventures and the Arts 7/20-7/24 and 8/17-8/21
Amazing Animals I 7/27-7/31 and 8/24-8/28
Science Seekers 8/3-8/7
Amazing Animals II 8/31-9/4

Fee: $220/week for members, $250/week
Early registration and sibling discounts available
Field Trip Fee of $15 to $25/child due the week of camp
Aftercare available for $20/day until 5pm
10% discount for early registration up to May 15th

Also available are Pre-school camps for ages 3 and 4 & an Explorer’s Club for children ages 11 to 14.

School Break Camps for ages 5-11
During our vacation week camps children will have the opportunity to learn about the wonders of the natural world through hands-on activities, live animals, and interactive games. Each day is a different nature theme. Children can be registered for one day, two days, or all of the programs offered.

Fee :$220/week for members, $250/week; $50/day for members, $60/day for non-members (Camp payment voucher)
Early registration and sibling discounts available
Aftercare available for $20/day until 5pm

NATURAL WONDERS for Pre-schoolers for fall 2009

Dates: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, 9:00am to Noon daily, 12:30pm to 3:30pm (Twelve Weeks (Weeks of 9/14, 9/23, 9/30, 10/5, 10/12, 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/30, 12/7
Ages: 3 and 4
Fee: $250/child for twelve weeks or $25/session

Help introduce the wonders of the natural world for your child. An experienced educator will lead a fun, interactive program for your child. Through hands-on activities, live animals, crafts, stories, and much more, children will gain a greater appreciation for nature and its creatures.

Drawing Nature and Nature Scrapbooking at Sweetbriar Nature Center

Sweetbriar Nature Center in Smithtown presents summer art classes taught by experienced artist and educator, Larissa Grass. Larissa has been with us for over four years inspiring young people to reach their potential. Children will be able to use our beautiful nature preserve and our many non-releasable animals to improve and enhance their artistic skill.
Dates: Tuesdays, 7/14, 7/21, 8/4, &, 8/11
Time: 3:15pm-4:45pm
Ages: 5-10, older children can request to participate
Fee: $100/chid for four classes, $35/child for one session
